As Saudi Arabia approached European footballer Kylian Mbappe with a potential $1 billion payday, social media was alight with the world’s leading athletes jesting that they wanted in on the action, with even NBA superstar Lebron James joking about his next move being to the Middle East.
There was little mention of criticism for the country’s leadership, opinions of its human rights record, or the recent ‘timeout’ in Western circles given to the Kingdom.
Definitively, Saudi Arabia is ‘back’ and is once again the object of attraction in the middle of today’s $1 trillion Gulf Moment. We appear to be heading for a tipping point that could witness an unprecedented step change across Saudi sectors, involving the world’s leading companies and institutions.
